Statment: DFER Louisiana Champions Re-Elected to Orleans Parish School Board
Woody Koppel and Nolan Marshall win majority of votes in respective districts
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Following the reported victories of DFER Champions Woody Koppel (53%) and Nolan Marshall, Jr. (54%) to the Orleans Parish School Board, Democrats for Education Reform-Louisiana’s State Director, Eva Kemp, released the following statement:
“Congratulations to Mr. Koppel and Mr. Marshall for keeping their seats on the Orleans Parish School Board. DFER-Louisiana was proud to endorse Woody Koppel for District 6, as he is a proven leader who has consistently worked to ensure that OPSB is financially secure and provides fair funding, robust resources and high-quality learning environments for kids across the city. DFER was equally proud to endorse and support Nolan Marshall, Jr. for re-election in District 7. Nolan is a strong leader who builds consensus, though he isn’t afraid to stand up for fair and equal funding for every school in New Orleans. Additionally, Nolan has been a leading advocate on the Board to increase safety measures that benefit students in our schools,” said Eva Kemp.
“Woody and Nolan’s victories reaffirm that parents, families, and voters in New Orleans are committed to implementing reforms and building upon the progress we’ve made. I’m excited that we will have quality education champions and dedicated public servants serving our students, and we at DFER-Louisiana look forward to working with such a strong Board to continue improving schools so that every child has the choice to attend a high-quality public school.”
