● Francisco Moya, who is running for Assembly District 39 in the Democratic primary against former State Senator Hiram Monserrate, received the endorsement of current state Attorney General and Democratic candidate for Governor Andrew Cuomo. Moya is only the second candidate Cuomo has endorsed during this campaign season.
“I am proud to support one of Queens’ finest young men and give him my full endorsement in his campaign for the Assembly,” said Cuomo. “Francisco Moya has been working hard for his community for two decades…I am inspired by all that he has done in his community – he has never given up and never lost hope. The people of New York deserve that kind of perseverance and commitment so that we can finally clean up Albany and make it work for all New Yorkers.”
● Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice picked up the endorsement of 14-term U.S. Congressmember Gary Ackerman in her quest to be the state’s next Attorney General. Rice is running against four Democrats in the primary including Sean Coffey, Richard Brodsky, Eric Schneiderman and Eric Dinallo.
“District Attorney Rice is experienced, she has bold ideas, and there’s no doubt in my mind that she’s the best candidate to lead the attorney general’s office,” said Ackerman.
● Congressmember Carolyn Maloney announced her support for Eric Schneiderman to be New York’s Attorney General. Maloney becomes the fifth New York member of Congress to endorse Schneiderman.
● Republican City Councilmember Peter Koo endorsed Dr. James Milano, who is running in the Republican primary for Congress in District 5 against Elizabeth Berney.
● Republican City Councilmember Dan Halloran campaigned with Rick Lazio, a Republican candidate for Governor, at the Pop Diner in Elmhurst. Lazio is running in a primary against Buffalo businessman Carl Paladino.
● Assemblymember David Weprin picked up key support for his re-election campaign in the 24th District against Bob Friedrich when he accepted the endorsement of the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) and its United Federation of Teachers (UFT) affiliate.
● State Assembly candidate Elio Forcina was endorsed by Democrats for Education Reform, a leading statewide organization committed to improving New York’s public education system, in his Assembly District 26 race against Steve Behar, Ed Braunstein and John Duane.
● Peter Thiel, CEO and Co-Founder of PayPal, has endorsed Republican candidate Ryan Brumberg for Congress in New York’s 14th District. Brumberg is running in the Republican primary against Dino LaVerghetta and Roger Blank.
