Last week, in response to the U.S. Department of Education’s (ED) request for public comments on its draft guidance—Frequently Asked Questions Impact of COVID-19 on 2021-2022 Accountability Systems Required under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA)—ERN joined with 40+ coalition partners to reiterate the importance of statewide accountability, school improvement, and public reporting systems and the crucial role of assessment data as a necessary tool to allow leaders to identify the districts, schools, and students the require differentiated and additional supplemental resources.
