DFER-LA Responds to Flood Damage in Louisiana

Blogs, Letters & Testimonials

August 19, 2016

It’s been a tough week here in Southeast Louisiana—DFER’s Deputy Director Leslie Leavoy and I have been working throughout the week to do our part in the flood relief efforts and we are continuing to pray for safety, peace and a swift recovery process for all those affected.

Over the last week, thousands of volunteers from near and far have taken time to provide relief and support to displaced families, and national and local businesses and public figures have donated money and supplies to folks across the affected areas. These measures have been incredible, but the work will not end anytime soon to get our neighbors back on their feet.

No matter where you live, you can contribute to folks who are facing devastating loss. Specifically, you can donate school supplies and/or clothing items through this Amazon Wish List prepared by New Schools for Baton Rouge: https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/12EO4ID6320ZT/.

For our New Orleans readers, Urban South Brewery will be hosting a Pay It Forward fundraiser, with all proceeds going to the NOLA Pay It Forward Fund. There will be music, food and drink specials. Head over to Facebook to learn more details, including what donations will be accepted for transport to Baton Rouge and Denham Springs, La.

Thanks,
Eva Kemp
