We had a great time in New York City last night for the official launch of Democrats for Education Reform. I don't want to use up too many words on the launch, because what we do as an organization is much more important than how we start. But there was tremendous energy — especially from Dems who said they were sick and tired of their party standing guard while millions of children are having their educational needs neglected in this country. Special guest Howard Fuller called for some "political incorrectness" that puts the needs of kids first on the political agenda, and DFER Education Warrior Awards were presented to Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson and New York State Sen. Malcolm Smith. More on the awards later.
