DEMOCRATS FOR EDUCATION REFORM ANNOUNCE MARCH REFORMER OF THE MONTH BRANDON T. TODD
DFER Executive Joe Williams cites Todd’s commitment to improving Washington, DC schools
Today, Democrats for Education Reform (DFER) Executive Director Joe Williams announced that the DFER “Reformer of the Month” for March is Brandon T. Todd.
Todd, a third-generation Washingtonian, served as then-Ward 4 Councilwoman Muriel Bowser’s Director of Community Affairs, and is now running in the special election to fill her seat.
In highlighting Todd’s commitment to improving Washington, DC schools, Williams said, “Brandon graduated from Washington schools—he knows firsthand that they can and should be a leg up for DC schoolchildren. But he’s also seen up close the negative impact of the largest achievement gaps between white and black and white and Hispanic students in the country. He will fight to close those gaps and make sure that every DC student has a fair shot at a quality education.”
In describing his commitment to improving DC schools, Todd said, “Every child should have access to a quality education regardless of their zip code.”
The Reformer of the Month is chosen by DFER to highlight the ongoing and successful efforts of Democrats around the country who are working to ensure that every child gets the high-quality education they deserve. Reformers of the month have a proven track record of supporting policies that will improve the schools in their community. They have a commitment to finding ways to strengthen public schools and help teachers and students by investing in programs and methods that work and changing those that do not.
