DEMOCRATS FOR EDUCATION REFORM RELEASES STATEMENT ON SCOTT WALKER ANNOUNCEMENT
DFER Acting Executive Director says American students can’t afford the Wisconsin Governor’s policies
Today, Democrats for Education Reform (DFER) Acting Executive Director Lea Crusey released the following statement:
“Yesterday, Gov. Scott Walker signed a budget that tells you all you need to know about his priorities; by slashing funding for public schools and continuing his attacks on organized labor, this budget shows that Walker values Republican doctrine over doing what is right for students.
“Walker’s repeated assaults on public education are not what we need. We need an open and honest dialogue about what is working for our students and what isn’t—and we must invest properly in what is working. Walker only offers partisan ideology, not true leadership. Walker signed a budget that dismisses his own state’s students, undermining K-12 and higher education with one pen-stroke; he shouldn’t have the opportunity to hurt education on a national scale.”
