WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 30, 2023) – Education Reform Now (ERN) Deputy Director of Higher Education James Murphy released the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to strike down President Biden’s student debt relief plan:
“Education Reform Now strongly regrets the Supreme Court’s decision on student debt forgiveness and expresses our deep sympathy with borrowers. The Biden administration’s plan would have provided much-needed relief to millions of Americans. We are in the midst of a college affordability crisis that is only growing worse. Policymakers must address the fundamental problems with how we fund and support higher education.”
