- DFER Policy Director Charles Barone praised the U.S. Department of Education’s proposed teacher preparation regulations, telling POLITICO’s Stephanie Simon that the Obama administration has “embarked on something that will likely end up being more important than Common Core, or teacher evaluation or any of the other reforms under way right now nationally.”
- Of the new regulations, Barone also told the New York Times’ Motoko Rich that policymakers should have started with changes to teacher prep in the first place.
- In DNAinfo Chicago, DFER-IL’s Rebeca Nieves Huffman called the CPS board’s decision on school turnarounds “the right thing to do for the students and parents who come face to face with the realities of a failing school on a daily basis.”
