Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Rob Astorino claims he wants to do away with the new Common Core curriculum and instead let local districts come up with their own standards and testing. The last time we did that we got a low bar for kids and more time spent on testing rather than learning than ever before in the state. Governor Cuomo has convened a discussion about how the State Education Department could improve upon its work in this area. We are confident the Cuomo Commission will come up with something more inspiring than just flushing it all down the toilet and praying our kids will be alright.
