DFER Louisiana Releases Statement on SB 432’s Final Passage

Baton Rouge, La. – Following today’s House floor vote on Senate Bill 432, which passed by a vote of 55-16, Democrats for Education Reform Louisiana state director, Eva Kemp, released the following statement:

“DFER-LA applauds the Louisiana House of Representatives for passing this critical piece of legislation through its last legislative hurdle and sending it to Governor Edwards’ desk for signature. We thank all the House and Senate members who contributed in creating, amending, and passing this measure.

“Now it’s time for us to roll up our sleeves and begin to implement and execute this law. Moving forward, we must all hold our community and elected leaders accountable for ensuring the promise of an excellent education for every student in New Orleans.

“The time for a transition of this scope is now. DFER-LA remains committed to New Orleans schools and families, and we are committed to doing our part in providing high-quality options to every student, regardless of their zip code.”
